Betty Jean Hundley

January 16, 1940 - April 7, 2025

Betty Jean Hundley, 85, of Marietta, Georgia, transitioned to her heavenly home Monday, April 7, 2025. She was born January 16, 1940, in Dry Fork, Virginia to the late Wilbur Leroy Payne and Cordie Wells Payne.

Along with her late twin brother, Betty was of the Christian faith and attended Methodist churches throughout her lifetime, where her gentle spirit and immense kindness touched many. She had a lifelong passion for sports, and helped her high school basketball team with scoring and a number of team duties. A proud graduate of Whitmell High School, she then went on to earn her two year degree from Phillips Business School. After a successful multi-state career as an administrative assistant that spanned nearly thirty years, when she then took on a new role helping her household grow and flourish and using her office skills to aid her husband, Wallace, in his professional endeavors. She was instrumental in helping him with his trade shows and the changing needs of his career as it developed, and they were inseparable allies throughout their marriage of more than sixty years.

She was active member of the United States Junior Chamber Jaycettes for several years, and was known for her sweet and caring nature, her big comforting hugs, and her deep love for animals. She was a true encourager, and a loyal companion, always ready for a family adventure or there to offer support to those in need. She especially loved to travel, with Hawaii, Florida, and Las Vegas being her favorite destinations. Having thrived in the face of many challenges, Betty’s fortitude was unparalleled and only matched by her warmth, humor, and resilience.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Wallace Hundley; her nieces Birdeana Rosenbaum and Vanessa Hundley, and their families; numerous cousins, and extended family and friends. She joins her brother Bobby Leroy Payne, their parents, and other precious family members in eternal rest.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 17th, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Boaze Family Cemetery, Dry Fork, Virginia 24549.
