Betty Jo Davidson Kelly

February 17, 1937 - May 22, 2025

Betty Jo Davidson Kelly, a cherished matriarch and beacon of faith, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 88 in Radford, VA. Born on February 17, 1937, in the rolling hills of West Virginia, Betty's life was marked by unwavering devotion to her family, her work, and her spiritual community.

Betty's early years in West Virginia laid the foundation for a life rich in love and service. She cultivated a close-knit family with her beloved husband, John David Kelly, who preceded her in death. Together, they raised two sons, John R. Kelly and Bryan G. Kelly (Monica), who filled Betty's life with joy and pride. She was a doting grandmother to Sloane and Brandon Kelly, and her legacy of kindness and strength will live on through them. Betty's family circle also included several special nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her nurturing spirit. She was the last surviving sibling, preceded in death by her parents, Garnett Davidson and Mary Elizabeth Stevenson Davidson, her brothers, Oakey and Bernard Davidson, and her sister, Margaret Davidson.

For many years, Betty was a familiar and friendly face at the local Kroger Deli, where she not only served her community but also formed lasting friendships with both colleagues and customers. Her work ethic and warmth made her a beloved figure, and her absence will be felt by all who knew her in this capacity.

Betty's passions extended beyond her professional life. She was an active and devoted member of Providence United Methodist Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and she demonstrated this through her commitment to attending and teaching Sunday School. Her dedication to her faith community was evident in her quest for perfect attendance, a testament to her deep love for both learning and teaching the word of the Lord.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Betty found solace and joy in flower gardening and walking. Her gardens were a vibrant tapestry of life, reflecting the care and attention she poured into every aspect of her existence. Neighbors and friends often found themselves the recipients of her horticultural advice and the beauty of her floral arrangements.

Betty Jo Davidson Kelly lived a life marked by dedication to the things she held dear: her family, her faith, and her community. Her memory will be treasured by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, and her teachings, both in life and in faith, will continue to guide those she has left behind.
