Betty Merrix Shrader

Betty Merrix Shrader, 79, of Stuart, Virginia, transitioned from this earthly life Monday, August 11, 2025. She was born July 26, 1946, in Giles County, Virginia, to the late Kendall Merrix and Susie Martin Merrix.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Harold Shrader.

Betty was a loving woman who could talk to anyone and never met a stranger. She was a hard worker who was employed for over two decades in the construction industry. Known for her strength and resilience, she demonstrated the true meaning of being a mother and was deeply loved by her family. The legacy of love and kindness she left behind will forever be imprinted on the hearts of her family.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughter, Patricia Chitwood (Garry); son, Danny Shrader (Melissa); sisters, Shirley Thornhill, Shelvy Robertson; brother, Leon Merrix (Joyce); grandchildren, Dwayne Shrader, James Shrader, Chris Chitwood; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the love, support, and acts of kindness that have been shown during their time of grief.
