Betty Nuckols Cooper-Enochs
Betty Nuckols Cooper-Enochs, 84, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
Born on August 24, 1940, in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest E. Nuckols and Lillian H. Nuckols. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William C. Cooper; her second husband, Henry B. Enochs; and two brothers, Joseph E. Nuckols and Wallace E. Nuckols.
Betty retired from Central Virginia Training Center after 25 years of dedicated service as a payroll technician. She had a deep love for music and shared her gift by singing for many years with the 50+ singing group at Thomas Road Baptist Church. Betty found joy in life’s simple pleasures—good food, crossword puzzles, and most of all, time spent with her beloved family. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were the light of her life.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Jerry W. Cooper (Judy), William “Chris” Cooper (Karen), and Joey N. Cooper (Deborah); two stepsons, Henry B. Enochs Jr. and William “Bill” Enochs; her sister, Bertha N. Arthur; sisters-in-law, Bettie Nuckols and Scottie Nuckols; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Virginia Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor Thomas Willis.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Holly Angus of James River Home Health and Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Betty in her final days. They also wish to thank the staff at Bentley Commons at Lynchburg for their kindness and support.
