Betty Oyler
Mrs. Betty Swain Oyler, age 83, of Covington, died Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. She was the wife of Raymond Elroy Oyler.
Mrs. Oyler was born February 26, 1941 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Solomon Swain and Beulah Persinger Swain. A lifetime resident of this community, she was employed as a waitress by the former Holiday Inn in Covington. Mrs. Oyler was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Betty was a longtime member of the Falling Spring Rescue Squad and a volunteer with Mountain Regional Hospice for a number of years. In her spare time, she enjoyed babysitting numerous children in this area and was an avid reader.
In addition to her husband, Raymond, Mrs. Oyler is survived by a daughter, Annette Oyler Bayne of Covington; a grandson, Steven Bayne; three great grandchildren, Camden Crouse, Caleb Crouse and Cason Crouse; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oyler was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Gale Oyler; a granddaughter, Ashley Bayne; and ten siblings.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon, Monday, September 23, 2024, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Monday morning from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
