Bevelene Rachel "Sissy Bear" Stroop

Bevelene Rachel “Sissy Bear” Stroop, 81, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026. She was born on May 8, 1945, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Everet Glendon Stroop, Sr. and Addie Elsie Nichols Stroop.

Bevelene was a graduate of Drewry Mason High School. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith and attended the Goodwill Primitive Baptist Church. She spent more than 30 years working at Ridgeway Clocks and National Homes, before retiring.

Bevelene was a woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening and especially enjoyed flowers. She took great pride in the beautiful fig tree that grew in her front yard. More than anything, Bevelene enjoyed spending time with her family and simply being around people.

She is survived by brother, Everet “Pro” Stroop; her nephew, Aric Stroop; her fur baby; her Goodwill Primitive Baptist Church family; Rebecca and a host of extended family members, friends, and loved ones.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Mountain View Cemetery, with Elder Jesse Hutchinson officiating.
