Billie Mae Britt

September 22, 1942 - February 3, 2023

The family of Billie Mae Britt is sad to announce that she passed away at Lewis Gale Medical Center Friday, February 3, 2023 to go to her heavenly home.  2 Cor. 5:1-9  Because of her faith and trust in Jesus Christ we have assurance that she is in a much better place than those that are left behind.  We have the promise from God's word she no longer struggles to breathe Rev. 21:4.

Billie was born September 22, 1942 in Blacksburg, Va. but spent most of her life in Salem, until moving to Daleville ten years ago.  Billie was employed by Lewis Gale Clinic retiring in 2004 with 30 years of service.  Billie had a special gift that came naturally from her working career.  She seemed to be a connecting link between patients and Dr. Milton Miller.  Billie was always the go-to person for the doctor and patients.  She always made herself available to both and they loved her for it.  Countless times patients and families have expressed their gratitude and acts of kindness she gave to hundreds of people over those 30 years.  Billie not only worked outside the home, but she always managed to be a homemaker with the desire to do her part caring for her home and family that God blessed her with and all that sat at her table.  They knew her for her cooking and she never disappointed anyone.  Billie enjoyed traveling, cruises, bus trips and most importantly her beach trips to Myrtle and Florida.

Billie was preceded in death by her first husband Jack Everett Booth, Sr.; parents, Mae and Bill Hayes, brother, Bob Nowlin and most recently her eldest son, Jack Everett Booth.  Billie was part of a large family and she loved them all.  Billie's passing will leave a void in all her family and friend's hearts that she touched.

Those left behind to cherish her memory and life, her husband of 47 years, Richard Britt; son, Jeff Booth (Lisa); grandsons, Zach Booth (Emmanuela), Adam Booth (Kayla); great grandchildren, Paisley, Thea, Jack, Elise, Abel, and Henry Booth all of Salem; sisters, Betty Conner, Kitty Testerman (George), Gay Francisco, Jackie Frantz (Ira), Linda Hayes, Bonnie Beheler (Doug); brother, Tommy Hayes; sisters-in-law, Doris Caldwell (Guy), Susie Shelton (Dan), Peggy Roten, Becky Petty; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Billie attended Grace Bible Church for the last nine years and words cannot express to the church family what each of you meant to her and Richard during this time.  Billie loved you all for the various ways you have blessed her.  Special thanks to Pastor Jay for staying close to Billie over the years encouraging her and praying for her daily.  Billie had a special place for you in her heart.

We would also like to offer a very special thank you to Doctors Steven Couture and James Witten who graciously helped Billie to live longer and be a blessing to her grateful family. And the staff on the third floor CCU at Lewis Gale Medical Center for their many acts of care and compassion.
