Billy "Wild Bill" Mayes

Mr. Billy “Wild Bill” Mayes, age 62 of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday evening November 21, 2024, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was born on February 17, 1962, in Bergen County, New Jersey to the late Louis Strausser and Barbara Jean Jones Mayes. He worked in construction as long as his health would allow. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edith Ann Driskill Strausser; daughter, Jocelyn Long; son, Billy Dean Strausser; sister, Linda Strausser Queen; brothers and a sister-in-law, Louis and Debbie Strausser, Edward Mayes, and Steven Mayes; stepdaughter, Brittany Snider; stepson, Shane Snider; special son, Timmy Stanley; God children, Amanda Lawson, Santanna Lawson, and Dustin Lawson; step grandchildren, Sarah Natasha Horton and Natalie Ann Horton; special sisters, Melissa Lawson, Heather Atkins, Elicia Estes, and Bunkie Bowman; special niece and spouse, Bailee and Shane Hutchins; several other family and friends; and a fur baby, Cinnamon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Strausser was preceded in death by his special fur baby who was in the vehicle with him at the time of the accident, Ella; and by his stepfather, Howard Edgar Mayes. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Solid Rock Bible Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
