Blane "Sonny" Turner Woody

Blane Turner (Sonny) Woody passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Mulberry Creek Nursing and Rehab Center.  He was born July 10, 1933, in Franklin County, VA, the son of the late Ferd Turner Woody and Elva Mae Hodges Woody. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 ½ yrs., Carol Angle Woody.

Mr. Woody retired from Radio after selling his business. He was a graduate of Franklin County High School class of 1951. He attended National Business College in Roanoke, VA. He was a member of Smith Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sisters, Mary Blanche Horsley of Collinsville, VA and Peggy Ann Woody of Rocky Mount, VA. Two nephews, Alvin Swanson Horsley, Jr., (Alicia) Dwain Woody Horsley, (Jennifer). Also extended family members as well as special cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Burial Park. Pastor Joey McNeil will officiate.
