Bobby Lee Lanningham

August 2, 1936 - February 1, 2024

Mr. Bobby Lee Lanningham, age 87 of Lowgap passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Lee County, Virginia on August 2, 1936, to the late Red and Mae (Stapleton) Lanningham. Mr. Lanningham retired from Boeing and Pike Electric after many years of employment as a hydraulics mechanic. During his time with Boeing, he was part of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. In his retirement, he was an avid cabinet builder and focused on creating heirlooms for his family members. He maintained strong mental acuity until succumbing to a brief illness. He was loved and will be missed by many family members and friends. He is survived by his first wife Joyce Turner, his children and spouses; Greg Lanningham and Randi, Debra Lowe and Chip, Donna Lanningham and Chester Penn, Lorraine Lanningham-Foster and Randal, Harold Richard King and Susi, Karen Kim Brymer, Warren Glenn King, Kim and Sam Crotty; grandchildren Joey, Jacqui, Jennifer, Brandon, Lee, Evan, Jennifer, Erin, Brian, Cody, Lesa, Stephanie, Katie, and Cody; great grandchildren (13); many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lanningham was preceded in death by his wives, Patricia and Pat; five brothers, Ed, Don, Jack, Delano, and Carl David, and beloved brother/sister-in-law Tony and Willie Jo Rogers. A funeral service will be held at Moody Funeral Services in Mt. Airy, NC at 2 PM on Monday, February 5, 2024. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM (February 5, 2024) at Moody Funeral Services in Mt. Airy.
