Bobby L. “Cowboy” Mabe, 87, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. He was born on June 12, 1939, to the late James Henry Mabe and the late Allie Hodges Mabe.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved wife 64 years, Evelyn Mabe; his daughter, Wanda Lynn “Wendy” Willard; his sister, Mary Ann Cross; and his brothers, Jackie Mabe and Henry Clay Mabe.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Penny Ann Boylan; his granddaughters, Denise Hurd and Tiffany Willard; and his four great-grandchildren, Blake Hence, Damian Hurd, Kaileigh Turner, and Caydence Turner. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he devoted more than 30 years to Stanley Furniture, where he worked in the Maintenance Department. Outside of work, he enjoyed the simple things that brought him happiness. He was an avid baseball fan and loved spending time on the golf course. One of his favorite hobbies was building model scale race cars that reflected his attention to detail and love of racing. Above all, he cherished his family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in watching them grow and spending time with them.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Henry Memorial Park. Pastor Alvin “Joe” Nunley will officiate.

Bobby’s memory will live on through his family and the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime. May he rest peacefully, knowing he was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
