Callie Beatrice Leftwich Martin

Mrs. Callie Beatrice Leftwich Martin, age 91, of Mount Airy, passed away early Sunday morning, June 29, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Martin was born in Surry County on April 13, 1934, to the late Ellis David and Lilly Mozelle Hiatt Leftwich. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she’ll be deeply missed by all who knew her. She worked many years with Perry Manufacturing in Production Planning. Surviving Mrs. Martin is her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon W. Shelton and Tommy, Teena H. Strader and Scott; sons, Vernon David White, Joseph Wyatt Hurst; grandchildren, Chris Shelton and Chika, Katie Turner and Chris, Jennifer Simmons, Marla Files and Fred, Mark Shelton, and Josh Strader; great grandchildren, Zane Simmons, Brady Simmons, Sage Simmons, Ayano Mounce and Clay, Cole Shelton, Sophia Turner, and Hannah Shelton; sisters, Betty Sutter, Mozelle Hiatt; sister-in-law, Mary Leftwich; fur baby “Tinkerbell”; many nieces and nephews very special little friend, Kathryn Williams. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leftwich was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Birge Martin; sister, Lucille Hooker; brother, Wilford Leftwich. A celebration of Mrs. Martin life will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with the Rev. Tim Gwyn officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until time of the service.
