Carol Lynn Newcomb Shanks

Carol Lynn Newcomb Shanks, age 70, of 2035 Pig Run Road, Millboro, Virginia died Saturday, August 31, 2024 at her residence.
Carol was born on September 25, 1953 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Clarence Theodore “Pedro” Newcomb and Eva Loan Newcomb, and was a Phlebotomist for Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved following her interests on the Internet.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Newcomb and a son-in-law, Daniel Brown.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Michael “Mike” Shanks of Millboro; two daughters, Denise Swearengin and husband Dennis of Covington and Abby Brown of Staunton; a step-daughter, Suzanna Paxton of Millboro; a sister, Debbie Ingram and husband Sammy of Millboro; one grandson, Colton Swearengin of Indiana; two step grandchildren, Hayden and Macey Paxton; a number of nieces and nephews; her dogs, Hank and Harley; and her grand-dogs, Skidder, Stihl, and Foxxy.
In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Millboro Fire and Rescue.
