Carol Sue Boone

Carol Sue Fore Boone, 78, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 14, 2022. She graduated from William Byrd High School in 1962 in the top 10% of her class. Sue worked at East Vinton Elementary School, Roanoke County School Administration, General Electric, and Norfolk & Western Railroad before becoming a homemaker for the last 49 years.

Sue had a big personality and an infectious, distinctive laugh. She had the gift of cheering people up and making them feel special. She believed strongly in having a positive attitude and making others happy.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur “Bill” and Josephine Fore, and her sister Betty and her husband Buford Thomas.

Sue is survived by her loving husband John Richard Boone; daughter Regina Boone Poff and son-in-law James E. Poff; grandsons Eric Braxton Poff, Brandon Scott Poff, and Ryan Alexander Poff. She is also survived by her sisters Barbara and husband David Huffman; Nancy and husband Wayne Boitnott; and brother Dwight Fore; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A special Thank You to her brother, Dwight Fore, who has given unselfishly of his time and energy to help Sue during her battle with multiple health issues since 2016.

The family will receive visitors at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, VA at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 22, 2022 immediately followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM. Interment services will be at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA.
