Carol Turner Adams
Carol Turner Adams, 83, of Bassett passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Sovah Hospital in Martinsville, Virginia. She was born in Henry Co, on June 27, 1941, the daughter of the late Charles McKinley Turner, Sr. and the late Mary Alice Koger Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy L. Adams and a sister, Janet Whitlow.
She retired from Henry County Public Schools after 34 years as an elementary teacher at Sanville Elementary School. Carol was a lifetime member of Blackberry Baptist Church where she played piano for over 50 years. She served as a Sunday School teacher, GA and Acteen leader, and loved her church family. In her spare time, Carol spent countless hours making knitted stocking caps for various area nursing homes and baby blankets for the Pregnancy Care Center. She also tucked a special hat into every Operation Christmas Child box she filled each year. Her love of sewing is seen in the many wedding gowns and bridal attire she made for friends and family throughout the years.
Surviving is her daughter and son–in–law; Tanya Adams Verlik (Sean), her precious grandson and granddaughter-in-law; McKinley Sean Verlik (Caitlyn), brothers and sisters – in – law; James Ronald Turner (Vicki) and Charles McKinley Turner, Jr. (Patricia), and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Carol will be Thursday, February 13 from 3-4 p.m. at Blackberry Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Chad Janey officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Blackberry Baptist Church General Fund or to the Blackberry Cemetery fund at 3241 Stones Dairy Rd, Bassett, VA 24055.
