Caroline Holler Spradlin
Caroline Holler Spradlin, age 96, of Chatham, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025, at SOVAH Health, Danville, VA. She was born December 13, 1928, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and was the daughter of the late Pauline Johnson Holler and the late Cecil Holler. On July 13, 1949 she married her late husband of many loving years, Landon Burdett Spradlin.
Mrs. Spradlin graduated from Corpus Christi Sr. High School and then attended North Texas State Teachers’ College (now North Texas University). She graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Religious Education degree. She enjoyed reading, concerts and Arts and Humanities. She was a past member of the Sylvania Garden Club and was a member of Chatham Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a member of the W.M.U. Mrs. Spradlin worked as a probation officer with the Pittsylvania County Juvenile Court for 26 years.
She was the mother of one son, Bryan Burton Spradlin (Joni) of St. Mary’s, GA. Mrs. Spradlin is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Bryan Wayne Spradlin, Rhea Lynn S. Waniska, Judah S. Strickland, Landon Isaac Spradlin, Pauline Spradlin, Sarah S. Alfau, Sam Spradlin, Stephen Spradlin, Jesse Spradlin, and Naomi Caroline Spradlin. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Jean Spradlin.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Spradlin was also predeceased by her beloved son, The Rev. Landon Cecil Spradlin of Gretna, VA and two sisters, Mary H. Marook and Una Jean Hoing.
A funeral service honoring Mrs. Spradlin will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Chatham Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Robert Moore. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Chatham, VA. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 1:00 a.m. until 1:45 a.m., also at Chatham Baptist Church.
