Carolyn "Jill" Laughridge Barr

Mrs. Carolyn “Jill” Laughridge Barr, 86, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Surry County on January 31, 1936, to the late Charles “Vernon” and Mary “Grace” Hiatt Laughridge. Mrs. Barr was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. Before retirement Mrs. Barr was in physical education and real estate sales for many years and was a lifetime member of Haymore Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Laura Barr and Kenneth Woods; grandsons and wives, Christopher and Ashlea Eakin, and Michael and Ashley Siner; step-granddaughter and husband Maggie and Josh Miller; longtime friend Terri Williamson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barr was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Robert Barr and a granddaughter Carolina Eakin. A memorial graveside service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery on N Main Street with Brother Sammy Lawson officiating. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home. Visitation will be after the service at her home. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration at her home after the service and request casual attire with spring colors. A special thank you to her son-in-law, Kenneth for the care given to Jill during her illness and her girls, Mary, Felicia, Terry, Debra, and Linda. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stokes County Animal Shelter, 1999 Sizemore Rd., Germanton, NC 27019, something very dear to her heart-animal rescue, or any animal rescue of the donor’s choice.
