Carolyn Phillips
Carolyn was born July 9, 1938 in Wyoming County, WV, a daughter of the late Melvin and Gay Cook Lambert. She was a member of First Christian Church where she had served as a former church secretary and was employed in the accounting department of Westvaco. Mrs. Phillips was a 1956 graduate of Hinton High School. She loved spending time with her family, going to the beach, watching the WVU Mountaineers and listening to Elvis music.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by one blessed daughter, Rhonda S. Phillips and William Bowles; a number of nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Connie Willey, Stephanie Willey Elkins and special nephew, Corey Lambert; two special cousins, Carlos Angell and Tess Angell; her special girls, Tracy Kessinger, Lisa Milam, Judy Beavers and Mandy Hedgecough; three sisters-in-law, Judy Mann, Jenny Angell and Glenna Shull; dear friends, Angelia Bryant and Charles Huddleston; members of The Hardees Breakfast Bunch; and numerous family members and friends whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Warren Lambert, Harry Lambert and Guy Lambert; two sisters, Frances Belcher and Ruth Bazi and dear friend, Barbara Harper Simpson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 13, 2023, at First Christian Church with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M. until service time at the church. The family suggests that any memorial tributes take the form of donations to First Christian Church, 231 E. Fudge Street, Covington, VA 24426.
