Carter Sloan

November 9, 1935 - February 6, 2025

Carter was born on Nov 9, 1935, one of 10 children.  His Dad died when he was young and as a teenager his first job was trimming trees out of town.

He later joined the navy and served there for 8 years.  When it came time to reenlist, his mother was having problems with one of her daughters, so Carter decided to come home and help her.  They lived in an apartment next door to Mrs. Lee.  She was a wonderful Christian and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.  She got Carter in church, and he was saved under the Ministry of Rev. Gene Arnold (whom he later worked with for 28 years). He served our Lord faithfully for over 52 years until he could no longer because of health reasons, he turned to spending his time reading his Bible and praying.

The scripture that reminds me of Carter is Psalm 1:3 "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season. his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper." For years he preached services at Lotz for people that did not have a preacher. He started working with Lotz part time.

There are two quotes by Billy Graham that I believe fit Carter.

Our world is obsessed with success, but how does God define success?

Success in God's eyes is faithfulness to His calling. What is important to God is that you remain faithful to Him in your Ministry.
