Cathy Payne McKinney

Cathy Payne McKinney, age 70, of Danville, VA passed away June 2, 2023 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, VA. She was born May 26, 1953 in Danville to the late Coleman R. Payne and the late Kathleen Matherly Payne. She was married to Mark Neal McKinney, who survives, of the residence.

Mrs. McKinney was an active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She loved her church family, reading, flowers, and traveling, but most of all, she loved her family. She earned her master’s degree and was a teacher in the Pittsylvania County School System for many years.

Left to remember her, in addition to her husband, are Mrs. McKinney’s children, Dr. Beth McKinney and Matthew Neal McKinney, her brother, Richard Payne and her granddaughter, Riley Grace McKinney.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA, officiated by Pastor Tim Barth. The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Turnpike, Danville on Monday, June 5, 2023 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM.
