Charles "Charlie" Virgil Lawrence
Charles Virgil Lawrence, 57, of Abingdon Virginia passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2024 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 31, 1966, in Penhook, Virginia in Franklin County, to the late Charles Franklin and Frances Taylor Lawrence. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Joseph “CJ” Lawrence of Abingdon Virginia; and two brothers, David Lawrence and Daniel Lawrence, both of Penhook, Virginia.
Charlie was disabled in 2021 with a short illness. Before that, he worked for the Town of Abingdon for 15 years. Charlie enjoyed meeting with and talking to both old and new friends. He loved working in the yard at home – had a real green thumb. He loved anything to do with being outside, and when the weather made him stay in, it was cowboy movies that he loved to watch.
Charlie was the most compassionate, kind, and affectionate big-hearted man. He had a laugh that was contagious and a smile that couldn’t be beat. He was a joker and loved to laugh. Charlie had a heart of gold and we know that he is in heaven smiling down with that million-dollar smile on all those he has left behind.
Survivors include his wife, Delana Jones Lawrence of Abingdon, Virginia; one very special grandson, Johnny Lawrence of Castlewood, Virginia; two step-daughters, Allison Patrick and partner Brandon Armbrister, and Alexis Patrick and partner Matthew Gill all of Bristol, Virginia; and granddaughter, Navie Armbrister of Bristol, Virginia.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Boones Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024 with Mr. Richard Arrington officiating.
