Charles "Victor" Goudie

October 4, 1946 - December 25, 2022

Charles Victor Goudie, Jr., 76, died on December 25 in Roanoke Virginia. He grew up in Bassett, Virginia, and was a graduate of Bassett High School. He played a variety of sports. He won awards for tennis and played tennis at Ferrum College where he completed an Associate’s degree. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Business Administration.

Victor is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Goudie, his sister, Katherine Goudie Wagner (Paul), stepsons Aaron and Jason McNeil, and step grandchildren Maxx, Roselynn, Spencer, and Mischa McNeil. Other relatives include his nephews John, Karl (Katie), and Ross Small along with a variety of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Although he did not have a brother, he had a brother relationship with his very special friend, Jim Bryant (Rita). During his final illness, his cousin, Elizabeth Anne Perdue (Marvin), helped him with his needs and checked on him in the hospital and during his stay in a nursing home. His first cousins also included LouAnne Ross-Purnell, Robert Ross (deceased), and Goudie cousins in Georgia and Illinois.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Victor Goudie, Sr. and Mary Frances Ross Goudie, his sister-in-law Linda Unrue, brother-in-law, Jerry Boggs, and brother-in-law Don Unrue. He and Sandy enjoyed listening to beach music, dancing, and playing tennis. They had a great time traveling to many gorgeous locations. He thoroughly enjoyed watching sports and was a devoted Hokie. He attended many of the games and watched a variety of sports on television. He was an avid Dodgers fan!

He worked for many years at Halmode Garment Industry and later worked in inventory control.

Visitation will be 12 to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, at Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett, and will be followed by a graveside service at approximately 2 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church in Ferrum, Virginia.
