Charlie Daniel (C.D.) McGuire
Charlie Daniel (C.D.) McGuire, Jr. died May 11, 2024. He was born in Henry County, Virginia on August 17, 1937, to the late Charlie Daniel McGuire, Sr., and Lila Minter McGuire. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Marie Craig McGuire and siblings, Betty Matherly, Barbara, and Harvey McGuire.
C.D. is survived by his daughter, Lisa Holiday (Ricky) of Axton and son, Danny McGuire (Harriet) of Bassett; grandchildren, Evan Holiday (Yolanda), Tyler McGuire (Jordan) and Abbey McGuire; great grandchildren, Zoe, and Piper Holiday; one sister, Jackie Byrd (Ken). He is also survived by his beloved companion, Shirley Spencer, and special niece, Faye Gill (Roger).
After 31 years of dedicated service, C.D. retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber. He was a committed member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville, where he served in many roles as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Church Treasurer.
He reveled in the thrill of racing and had a profound love for classic cars. Often, he would tell stories of his days opening and running a service station, and memories of his involvement in the racing scene. His home displayed an impressive collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia, each piece a memento of the past.
Above all, his generous spirit and heartfelt love for helping others were the essence of his character. His unwavering dedication to bettering the lives around him will be sorely missed, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Noon at First Baptist Church of Collinsville, with Pastor Larry Cheek officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Roselawn Burial Park.
