Charlie James Clay

Charlie James Clay, 72, passed away at his residence on April 19, 2025. Charlie was born in Danville, Va on June 18, 1952 to the late Dora Mae Wyatt Clay and the late Charlie Henry Clay.

Charlie was of the Christian Faith. He worked for over 28 years as a manager at Dan River Mills Inc., and most recently at Old Dutch Grocery Store, previous to his retirement.

Charlie is survived by a daughter; Caroline Rochelle Kirkman and husband David of East Bend, NC; two sons; Charlie James Clay Jr. of Danville, VA and Michael Wayne Clay and wife Lyndsie of Las Vegas, NV; a sister; Edna Clay Cundiff and husband Jerry of Danville, VA; two grandchildren; Alyssa (Jacob) and Gregory; and three great grandchildren; Callie, Payton, and Adalyn.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased by a brother; Carrington Lewis Clay; and a sister; Linda Sue Clay Burton (John).

The family would like to extend a special heart felt thank you to his special friend and caregiver, FNP Amy Stanfield.
