Charlotte Scearce Dodson

May 30, 1937 - May 5, 2024

Charlotte Ann Scearce Dodson, 86, of 840 Corn Tassel Road, Danville, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Born May 30, 1937 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Benjamin Scearce and Isabella Barber Scearce. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Milton Ray Dodson, Sr.

Charlotte was a graduate of Whitmell High School and Averett University, where she was employed as a staff member and was the administrative assistant to the librarian for many years. She was a lifelong active member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, where she served for many years as church clerk, among several other roles over the years.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was predeceased by brothers Daniel Scearce, Jr., John Scearce, Raymond Scearce and Willie Scearce, as well as by sisters Mary Scearce Hundley and Florence Scearce Merricks.

In addition to her husband, Charlotte is survived by two sons; Milton R. Dodson, Jr. and wife Dr. Lisa Dodson of Center Valley, PA, and Daniel L. Dodson of Bethesda, MD.; four grandchildren; Michael, Benjamin, Luke, and Jill, a special niece; Linda Jones and a special nephew; David Scearce, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 11am at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 4385 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA with Paster Steve Chromy officiating. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 10-11am at the church. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
