Cheryl Gregory Richardson

Cheryl Gregory Richardson, 71, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2026. Cheryl was born in Danville, VA on January 23, 1955 to the late Elizabeth French Gregory and the late John S. Gregory. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Mr. Chuck Richardson.

Cheryl was of the Christian faith and a longtime member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church where she served in multiple capacities. She served as the president of the Circle of Friends and also served on the administrative board. She worked for over 34 years as a school teacher for Danville Public Schools, previous to her retirement.

In addition to her husband, Cheryl is survived by two sons; David Richardson (Erin) of Chester, VA and John Richardson (Jamie) of Danville, VA; a daughter; Jennifer Davis (Tim) of Danville, VA; a sister; Robin G. Woodson (Danny) of Danville, VA; and six grandchildren; Lucas Richardson, Maddie Davis, Emmy Davis, Colton Richardson, Rylee Richardson, and Keely Richardson.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl was predeceased by a sister; Vickie G. Cassada.

The family suggest in Lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to The Alzheimers Association at P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 11:00am at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 229 Mt. Olivet Lane, Danville, VA 24540 with Pastor James Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from 6-7:30pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence at 358 Jeanette Drive, Danville, VA 24540.
