Clarice Margaret Rigney

Clarice Margaret Compton Rigney, 82, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem Virginia. She was born September 6, 1941, in Ridgeway, Virginia, to the late Ernest Joseph Richard Compton “Pineskinner” and Frances Louise Compton.

She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible daily and loved crossword puzzles and her cats.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Frances Compton.

Clarice is survived by her husband, Herbert Rigney, Sr.; stepdaughter, Deborah Nelson (Jeff); stepson, Herbert Rigney, Jr.; sisters, Brenda Shuttz (Bruce), Rosella “Susie” Compton Ciccarone (Ed), and Carol Compton Biggs (Wayne); brothers, Ernest Lee “Peewee” Compton (Gail) and John Wesley Compton (Lisa); and many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren, and one step great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 @ 11:30 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Reverand A.C. Palmer officiating. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service.
