Clemmie Ann Chaney

Clemmie Ann Chaney, 90, of Stuart, Virginia, “an angel of a mama” gained her Heavenly Angel Wings on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at her home. The last of 14 children. She was born on June 5, 1934, in Patrick County, Virginia, to the late Jeremiah “Jerry” and Lucy Hall Chaney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Maynard Buford “Doc” Chaney, and her daughter Teresa Patty Chaney, brothers, Jackson, Marshall, Lester, Leonard, Aaron, an infant brother Jackson, sisters, Maggie Nichols, Alice Rorrer, Mozell Rorrer, Louvenia Dunovant, Jean Collins, Lorene and Sarah Chaney, grandparents, Jefferson and Amanda Foster Chaney and Marshall and Melissa Bryant Hall.

Clemmie was a devoted member of Union Primitive Baptist Church for 52 years. She found salvation on Saturday, January 22, 1972, and was baptized the following day, Sunday, January 23, 1972. Over the years, she worked as a babysitter and deeply treasured the moments spent with her three children. In a handwritten note, Clemmie expressed her love by stating, "Maxine Lucy, Teresa Patty, and Keith Jeremiah are my heart."

Clemmie is survived by her two children, Maxine Lucy Chaney and Keith Jeremiah Chaney; her two grandchildren, Brandon Calderon and Nicole (Ryan) Workman; and her five great grandchildren; Alyanah Powell, Nora, Ariya, Legend and Lyra Workman; and a host of Special nieces, nephews, cousins, Church family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Union Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Mark Terry and Pastor David Bishop Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 7-9 pm at Bassett Funeral Service. A burial will follow immediately after the service at Hall Family Cemetery.
