Clovis Gregory Eller

Clovis Gregory Eller, 89, of Martinsville, Virgina passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at her home with her family at her bedside. She was born in Martinsville, VA on September 9, 1934, to the late Roy and Doris Thomasson Gregory of Martinsville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Myron Edward “Edd” Eller, Sr., and by brothers, John Lloyd Gregory, and Douglas Hunter Gregory of Martinsville.

She is survived by her son, Dr. M. Edward Eller, Jr. of Stanleytown, Virginia, and her sister, Opal June Gregory Rocke, of Morton, Illinois.

Clovis was a graduate of J.D. Bassett High School where she co-captained the Varsity women’s Basketball Team. After High School, she was employed at E.I. DuPont until her retirement from the Guard force as Sergeant in 1987, the first woman to hold a Guard position at DuPont.

She enjoyed her retirement on the farm with her beloved animals, bird watching, and keeping up with Nascar racing and UVA basketball.

As per her wishes, all services will be private and limited to the immediate family, caretakers, and close personal friends with entombment in the Sanctuary of Hope at Roselawn Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of Martinsville-Henry County, 132 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville, VA 24112.
