Clyde "Glenn" William Bowman

August 18, 1946 - February 9, 2024

Mr. Clyde William “Glenn” Bowman, age 77 of Mount Airy, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Friday morning at Hugh Chatham Health surrounded by his family. Mr. Bowman was born August 18, 1946, in Stokes County to the late Frank Akers and Elise Lankford Bowman. Glenn was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a faithful member of White Plains Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for over fifty years and spent over twenty-five of those years driving a Sunday school bus. In 1980, Mr. Bowman opened his own auto and tire repair and transport business. He touched the lives of many in his community through his hard work, sacrifice, and willingness to help others. Glenn will be greatly missed. Surviving is his wife, Imogene Creed Bowman; a daughter, Cynthia Bowman Parks; son and daughter-in-law, Brad Bowman and Rachel; six grandchildren, Hunter Parks, Isabella Parks, Luca Parks, Cameron Bowman, Cole Bowman, Chase Bowman; a maternal aunt, Jackie Dollyhigh; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Ann Bowman, Linda Kay Bowman McBride; and two brothers, Jerry Wayne Bowman, James Akers Bowman. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at White Plains Baptist Church in Mount Airy with Reverend David Tucker, Reverend Dale Hawks, and Reverend Steve Delph officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at White Plains Baptist Church from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to White Plains Baptist Church, Sunday school bus fund, 614 Old Hwy 601, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.
