Cody Simpson

Randall Cody Simpson, beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, and partner, passed away on November 26, 2024, at his home in Rustburg, Virginia, at the age of 34. Born on August 4, 1990, in Lynchburg, he was the cherished son of Randall “Randy” and Rhonda Simpson.He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ronald Tucker and Milton Simpson, and grandmother, Estelle SimpsonCody grew up in a close-knit family alongside his siblings and was known for his humor, creative problem solving, resiliency, bravery, and unwavering loyalty. He was a source of strength to his family and friends. Cody started his own business, enjoyed playing Magic the Gathering, and was an avid botanist. Cody shared a deep and loving partnership with Mary Haskins, who stood by his side through life's many adventures and challenges, including the last three months in which he was diagnosed with cancer and entered hospice care. The life they created together was filled with love, laughter, and endless memories. Their bond was a testament to the power of love, companionship, hope, and never giving up on someone even in the face of death. Cody's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the memories and stories shared by those who loved him.Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his parents, are his siblings, Danny Simpson (Lauren Groetch) and Calley Simpson Marler (William “Shawn” Marler); grandmother, Janice Tucker, and partner, Mary Haskins. He is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Pastor Jon Gillette officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, VA at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Cody's memory to The American Cancer Society or The Lynchburg Humane Society.
