Connie Joan Muncy

May 29, 1942 - June 14, 2019

Connie Joan Muncy, 77, of Wytheville, Virginia went to be with her heavenly father on June 14th, 2019 after an extended illness at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Connie was born on May 29th, 1942 in Widemouth, West Virginia to the late George Allen Davis and Helen Faye Terry Davis. She attended school in Mercer County, W.Va. throughout her childhood. She also became a licensed cosmetologist, as well as an instructor, after attending Little French Beauty Academy in Bluefield, West Virginia. Throughout her tenure as a cosmetologist, she became a co-owner of a Your Father's Mustache franchise in Bluefield, West Virginia and Wytheville, Va., and then eventually an owner of salons in Bluefield, W.Va., Wytheville, Va., Tazewell, Va. and Richlands, Va. She established Summit School of Cosmetology in Wytheville, Va. in January of 1983. She was the owner/director until its closure in 2018. Mrs. Muncy had a passion for hair and strived for excellence in her field. She loved her students and loved teaching them. She was president of the Virginia State Beauty School Association in the mid 1980's-1990's. She obtained her Doctorate of Letters in 2015 from Oxford University. She married Connell Muncy on October 29th, 1960 in Chicago, Ill. They were married for 46 wonderful years and had one daughter, Rhonda, together. Mrs. Muncy was of the Christian faith.

Mrs. Muncy was predeceased by her husband, Connell Muncy; sister, Lois Hicks; and brother, Lindel Davis. Mrs. Muncy is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Charr and husband Jeffrey Charr of Wytheville, Va.; her beloved grandchildren, Megan Charr of Roanoke. Va. and Ryan Charr and wife Ashley Charr of Lakeland, Fla.; great-grandson, Theodore Christian Charr of Lakeland, Fla.; brother, Lowell Davis of Peterstown, W.Va.; brothers-in-law, Tommy Poore and Bill Poore, both of Bradshaw, W.Va.; sisters-in-law, Anne Poore and Dorothy "Poochie" Chaffins of Bradshaw, W.Va.; host of extended family and friends- Donna Meadows, her "partner in crime" and best friend of Christiansburg, Va., Earl and Lois Cook of Wytheville, Va., and dear friend, Lenny Cecil of Streamwood, Ill.

A celebration of Mrs. Muncy's life will be held for her family and friends at a later date.
