Connie Smith

Connie Marie Owens Smith, age 80, of E. Mallow Road, Covington, Virginia died Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the Brian Center Health and Rehab Center, Low Moor.
She was born November 18, 1942 in New Castle, Virginia to the late Luther Owens and Rachel Belle Davis Owens. She was a homemaker and care giver for 27 years at the Community Service Board. She was a member of First Christian Church, Covington where she was in care of the baby nursery for over 30 years. She was a New York Yankees fan, loved to cook, enjoyed playing rook with her brothers and sisters, and loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Oscar Lee Smith of Covington; three sons, Dale A. Smith and wife, Tonia of Covington, Todd Smith and wife, Tracie of Selma, Matthew Allen Owens of Covington; a sister, Patricia Tingler of Salem; two brothers, Barry Owens of New Castle, Luther Owens, Jr. of Powhatan; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 2:00PM in First Christian Church, Covington with Reverend Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until time of service at First Christian Church.
