Cordelia Thompson

Mrs. Cordelia Smith Thompson, age 77, of Roanoke, died Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Springtree Health and Rehabilitation Center, Roanoke. She was the wife of the late James Schular Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson was born August 7, 1946 in Covington, the daughter of the late Tom Smith Sr. and Lola Hogan Smith. She was a graduate of Covington High School and went on to Virginia Western Community College where she earned an associate's degree in accounting. During her working career, Mrs. Thompson was employed as a clerk by the Salvation Army Thrift Store. Cordelia attended the Wesleyan Church.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by a son, Joseph Clark of Goshen; four daughters, Polly Thompson Fisher of Roanoke, Tracy Thompson of Roanoke, Angelia Thompson Lipes of Roanoke and Janice Thompson Gamez of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Daniel Jones Thompson, Emily Thompson Colon, Schyler Richardo Gamez and Samantha Marie Gamez; two great grandchildren, Tapanga Marie Colon and Lorena Gray Thompson; a sister, Ruth Smith Lane of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Smith, a son-in-law, Billy Lipes; and a brother-in-law, Ralph E. Lane. Sr.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with William Howard Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
