Cova Nichols Hunt

June 5, 1938 - September 11, 2025

Cova Nichols Hunt, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Otho Nichols and Mae Nichols. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice W. Hunt and her brother, Roy Lee Nichols. She is survived by her loving sister, Jewel Nichols Dudley; her nephews, Roy Nichols, Jr., and David Hunt and the Hunt families, along with extended family and friends whom she loved dearly.

Cova and her husband were tobacco farmers in the Sontag area for many years. They also had an independent car dealership where they bought and sold cars and parts, and people from everywhere would come to shop. They met a lot of good Christians throughout the years.

When Cova’s husband passed away, she kept the business going until she had to give it up. Cova was a dedicated Christian lady. She attended the Evangelical House of Prayer for many decades and later started going to Providence Baptist Church with her sister. She was a kind and loving person to everyone she met.

Cova was faithful and dedicated to her Savior, Jesus Christ, all her adult life. She helped so many people and would not let any child go without love, always caring for families and extending a helping hand to those in need.

Cova was like a mother to her sister Jewel. Cova was 14 years old when her little sister came along, and Jewel always saw Cova as her mom. Now, Cova is no longer suffering. She fought the good fight and was tired. For the past few months, she had been telling everyone she wanted to go home with Jesus.

Thank you to everyone who went to visit Cova at Fork Mountain Rest Home. She enjoyed those visits and appreciated all acts of kindness, love, and support.

Per her request, she will be cremated with no services. Her remains will be placed beside her husband at the Brown Cemetery on Marcus Road in Sontag.

A thank you to Amedisys Hospice and staff. We also want to extend thanks to the Fork Mountain Rest Home team for all the care and love they showed Cova. The staff included Sarah Holcomb, Karen, Lynnie, Carolyn, Izzy, Audra, Emily, Jeanna, Blanca, Clarissa, Nicole, Lisa, Bre, Teresa, and Scooter. May God bless you all.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
