Coye Samuel Landrum
Coye Samuel Landrum, 88, of Blairs, VA passed away on July 8, 2026 after a recent decline in health.
Coye was born in Danville, VA on May 22, 1938, a son of the late Samuel Edward Landrum and Myrtle Annie Adams Landrum.
Coye recently celebrated 70 years of marriage on June 28, 2026 with his wife Betty Aiken Landrum who survives.
Coye is also survived by children Starlet Landrum Lemon, Keith Samuel Landrum, grandchildren Tara Hawkins, Ryan Hawkins (Hollie Duffy), Chelsea Landrum, Samuel Landrum, great-grandchildren Adrianna, Brooks, Felix, Winter and granddog, June. He is also survived by a brother Larry Landrum (Gay), sister Nancy Landrum Marlowe (Jack), brother-in-law Doug Aiken, a special “son” Andy Hawkins, several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
In addition to his parents, Coye was predeceased by an infant sister, an infant brother, parents-in-law James Arthur Aiken and Estelle Bray Aiken, son-in law Luther Lemon, brother-in-law Michael Aiken, sister-in-laws Erma Aiken Holley, Lillian Aiken, and his faithful dog Pete.
Coye founded Landrum Horseshoeing in 1965 and worked as a farrier for 50 years before full retirement in 2015. He traveled many miles and visited several states during these years caring for horses and established lasting friendships with his many customers and fellow farriers. After retirement he enjoyed trail riding his mules Rose and Pat and camping with friends.
The family would like to thank his hospice nurse Debbie and the care team at 1st Care at Home.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 3-5:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. During other times, the family will receive visitors at the home of his daughter Starlet.
The family suggest that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
