Curtis "Landon" Skinnell
Curtis “Landon” Skinnell, 87, of Wooster, Ohio passed away September 19, 2026, with his family at his side.
Landon was born June 16, 1939, in Bedford, Virginia to William Landon and Lillie Smith Skinnell. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1958 and Virginia Tech in 1962 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
On June 9, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Marcella Key Skinnell and eventually settled in Wooster when Landon began working at Rubbermaid in 1966. Landon worked there 32 years before retiring.
Landon loved gardening and his gardens were often the talk of the neighborhood.
Landon was very active in the Wooster community serving as President in the Wooster Jaycees. He was the advancement chairman of Boy Scout Troop 62 while his son Mike was in Scouts. Together they participated in many campouts and weeklong service trips to Michigan, with the highlight being a backpacking trip to Colorado. After retiring from Rubbermaid, he continued his love of the outdoors by RVing the US and Canada. Winters would find him and Marcella in Yuma, AZ exploring the desert with Jeep groups. They often led groups to the beautiful Gila and Laguna Mountains.
Landon was also Patti’s biggest fan when it came to her playing sports. He never missed a game. Whether it was a home game or an away game, he was always there in the stands, cheering her on and proudly supporting her. His love and encouragement meant more than words could ever express.
He is survived by his wife Marcella of 64 years. In addition, he is survived by his son Mike (Jennifer) Skinnell, their children Emily (Wade) Cole and Brian (Elizabeth) Skinnell and great-grandchildren August and Levi Cole; daughter Patricia (Greg) Musci and their children Megan, Chris (Tyler) and Nicholas Musci. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Maurice “Bucky” Key in Bedford, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm Friday, September 25, 2026, at Updike Funeral Home Bedford. A Funeral Service with Masonic Rites will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 26. 2026, at Updike Funeral Home Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Phil Showers officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
