Cynthia "Cindy" Redd McDaniel

August 19, 1945 - February 20, 2025

On February 20, 2025, Cynthia 'Cindy' Redd McDaniel, aged 79, of Danville, was embraced by the everlasting mercy of God. She closed her eyes to this world and opened them to the Glory of Heaven. As she departed from our midst, we find solace in knowing she is now in the presence of our Lord, reunited with cherished family and friends who have gone before us, basking in His eternal love. Cindy's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, boundless compassion, and the light she brought into our lives. We honor her journey and the legacy she leaves behind.

Cindy was born on August 19, 1945, in Pittsylvania County to the late Hazel Garrett Redd and the late Elbert Allison Redd. Growing up in a large family, she developed a spirit of compassion that continued to flourish throughout her life. She graduated from Spring Garden School in 1963, forming many lifelong friendships along the way.

After many cherished years of motherhood, Cindy extended her nurturing skills to her neighbors as a member of Blairs Baptist Church and a volunteer with the Blairs Volunteer Fire Department. Over the years, she wore many hats, forming numerous friendships through her work at Sears, Outlook Pointe Nursing Home, and Unique Industries, where she retired.

In her golden years, Cindy delighted in helping those in need as well as spending time with family and friends. She embarked on adventures like attending craft shows and festivals, hunting for treasures at estate and yard sales, watching sports, and enjoying local youth baseball games. She also loved fishing at the beach while making new friends. Cindy kept her father's spirit alive by indulging in music and dancing with friends at the Ballou Park Friday Night Dance, where she served as a board member.

Cindy spent her final days surrounded by the love and admiration of her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was especially grateful for the compassion shown by her daughter, Laurie McDaniel (Sherrell Pitman), and her son, Randy (Melissa) McDaniel. She found peace in the company of her grandchildren, Nicholas (Abby) McDaniel and Rachel (Ben) Owen. Her extended family included Shiloh Pitman, Michaela Pitman, and her great-granddaughter Bellamy Zatt. Cindy cherished reminiscing with her sisters, Mavis Davis, Lucy Lane, and Mary Sue Daniel, as they shared treasured memories. The companionship of David Willis Sr. and his family brought her great comfort. Cindy is lovingly remembered by David Willis Jr.; Mary (Charles) Setliff and their children, Alex (Alyssa), Zachary, and Carleigh; Heather (Jason) Watlington and their children, Morgan (Britton) Webb, Kaleb (Pierson), and Aiden; as well as three honorary great-grandchildren.

Cindy was warmly welcomed to heaven by many loved ones, including her beloved grandson, Zachary Faw. She joyfully reunited with her parents and her unnamed infant brother, as well as her sister, Joanne Ricketts; brothers, Elbert Dean Redd and Michael Redd; and her stepmother, Elsie Bolte Redd.
