Daniel "Danny" Andrew Tavenner

Daniel Andrew Tavenner, 65, of Leesburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, at his home at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 28, 1960 in Leesburg, Virginia. Danny served as a police officer for 19 years with Loudoun County Sheriff’s office, 13 years with Leesburg Police Department, and an additional 10 years of service with the US Marshals. He then moved to Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, where he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Orioles baseball, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known above all for his strength, humor, and loyalty. Danny is survived by his wife, Nancy, his siblings, David Tavenner and Debbie Tavenner, his children: Daniel Tavenner, Jr. (Natalie), Tori Tavenner, Bradley Tavenner (Kayla) and Megan Tavenner, and his granddaughter, Camden Hazel Tavenner. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hazel Tavenner, and a sister, Doris Tavenner. Family will receive friends on Monday, June 15 at 10:00 am at Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd,. NE., Leesburg, VA 20176 where a service will begin at 11:00 am. After the service there will be a private interment for family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Danny’s name to Good Samaritan Hospice SW Virginia in Roanoke.
