Daniel Guy Handy

Daniel Guy Handy, age 52, of Axton, Virginia passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born August 1, 1972 in Burlington, NC, the son of Albert Guy Handy, Jr. and Brenda Sue Loftis Handy.

He was a member of The Martinsville Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a very hard worker who took pride in his work. He was very dedicated to his family and made everyone laugh. He was a shining light in a dark world and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Michele Joyce Handy, sister, Carolyn Renea Handy Jones (David), his nieces and nephews; Ethan, Gracie and Colt Jones, Matthew Swinney (Hunter) and Cody Swinney (Crystal), Rylee and Reid Joyce. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Pearl Richardson Minter (Steve), great nephews; C.J. and Walker Swinney, uncles and aunts; Bobby Loftis, Roger Loftis, Rachel Smith, Vickie Rumley, Steve Handy and Jesse Handy.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leroy and Lorena Loftis, paternal grandparents, Albert Handy Sr. and Peggy Joyce Handy, uncles and aunts, Cynthia Hall, Violet Tucker, Helen Harrelson, Mary Lou Teague, Carlis Loftis, Donald Loftis and Gene Loftis.

The Pallbearers for service are Kelly Joyce, Cody Swinney, Ricky Overman, David Jones, Ethan Jones, Michael Moxley, and Honorary Pallbearers Colt Jones and Reid Joyce.

The family will receive friends on March 13 from 1 to 2PM, with funeral services starting at 2PM at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 109 Broad Street Martinsville, VA. with Bishop Barry Moxley officiating.

The family would like to thank the nurses and Dr. Ana Ventura at SOVAH Ravenel Oncology and all of the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice for their wonderful care.
