Daniel Lewis Tatum

Daniel Lewis Tatum, age 87, of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 17, 2025. He was born on July 27, 1937, in Patrick County, Virginia, to the late Walter Lee Tatum and Lois May Ross. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Audrey Joyce Tatum; two infant children; his brothers, Frank S. Tatum, Coy Petigo Tatum, and Roy Tatum; and his brother-in-law, Lawrence Price.

Daniel was a man of Christian faith. He dedicated many years of his life working as a machine operator at Fieldcrest Cannon before retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, playing cards, and was an avid croquet player. A compassionate and generous man, Daniel also served for many years as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and was a loyal blood donor, giving gallons over the course of his lifetime to help those in need.

He is survived by his sister, Alice Price; and brother, Wayne B. Tatum (Linda); sister-in-law, Midge Tatum; and is lovingly remembered by a host of extended family members and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00am, at Henry Memorial Park.
