Darrel Elvin Reed, 77, of Floyd, went to be with the Lord on Friday June 19, 2026. He worked with his family at Reed’s Lumber and Woodyard. In his later years he was a truck driver and then finished his work life at the Floyd Xpress again with his family, where he enjoyed talking with the customers. He was a graduate of Danville Community College. He was an avid woodworker making many different keepsakes that he shared with family and friends. A few of his many talents was making wax molds into candles and working on Grandfather Clocks. He served his country for 4 years in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents: Elvin and Velma Reed; and a brother-in-law: Roger Hollandsworth.

Survived by son: Brannon Reed; sister: Jennifer Hollandsworth; nephew: Dustin Hollandsworth (Sabrina Shulze); great nieces and nephews: Lilah Hollandsworth, Emberly Hollandsworth, Shauna Shulze, Garrett Shulze, Kylie Shulze, Wyatt Shulze, Arick Shulze; spouse: Helen D. Morrison.

Graveside services will be Wednesday June 24, 2026, at 2:30 PM at the SWVA Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Gardner Funeral Home on Tuesday June 23, 2026, from 6 to 8 PM.
