Darrell Lovill

Mr. Richard Darrell Lovill, age 67, of Cana, VA, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday evening April 26, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC surrounded by his loving family. Darrell was born in Surry County on February 12, 1956, to Betty Lou Slate Lovill and the late Richard Arlis “Butch” Lovill. He worked at NC Granite as long as his health permitted. Papa Darrell loved boating, old cars, and Harley Davidson motorcycles, but he especially loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Linda Gail Crotts Lovill; daughter, Bridget Nunn and husband James, and Stephanie Hutchens and husband Trent; his precious grandchildren whom he adored and loved so much, Noah Hutchens and Lucas Hutchens; his mother, Betty Lou Slate Lovill; sister, Robin Slate; brothers, Tim Lovill, and Marty and Cathy Lovill; several nieces and nephews; and a special close friend, Edgar Crotts. In addition to his father, Darrell was preceded in death by a sister, Vicky Lynn Lovill. A service of worship and celebration will be held on Sunday April 30, 2023, at 2:00PM in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with the Rev. Chad Crotts officiating. There will not be any formal visitation at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Forsyth Medical Center for all of the love, care, and support shown to Darrell, his loving wife, and the rest of the family.
