David Betterton

On Friday, December 6, 2024, David Betterton, 76, of Chatham, VA, passed away at Sovah Health in Martinsville, VA. He was born August 4, 1948, in Danville, VA, to the late Roberta Evans Betterton and James Fredrick Betterton.

David was an active member of Hollywood Baptist Church, where he proudly served as a deacon. After serving in the Army, he worked for the DRHA for 12 years and 8 years as a warehouse supply manager for Bagby Equipment Company.

He enjoyed playing golf and shooting pool with friends. Most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family and his wife, Norma Jean Suggs Betterton, who survives.

Also surviving, are a son, David Betterton, Jr., one sister, Bonnita Whitlow (Donnie), two brothers, Dr. Carl Everett Betterton (Sarah), James Michael Betterton, and grandson Zachary Thomas Lovelace Betterton

In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his daughter, Lori Nicole Betterton

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at 1:00 p.m. at Hollywood Baptist Church, Chatham VA. Pastor Terry St. John will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the residence.
