David Gene Hammock

February 11, 1956 - August 21, 2023

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of David Hammock. Better know as “Dave” to most or “Doc” to others, he was a great man of few words but had a heart of gold. David proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post 325.

David was known for his unwavering work ethic, which showed in everything he did. He retired as the Operational Manager for First Piedmont Corporation after 41 years of service. David had a true passion for the outdoors-golfing, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and gardening.

David leaves behind the love of his life, Ann. They started their journey together growing up as childhood friends, dating in their late teens and sharing 47 wonderful years of marriage.

Also, he is survived by his goddaughter, Amy Barber-Kennon (Mark), sister Linda Jones (Sam), brothers Dennis and Danny (Deborah) Hammock, sister-in-law Martha Crews, brother-in-law Kenneth Crews (Pat), and his precious fur baby, Abbey.

David was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Walter and Lessie Hammock, and parents Jerleen “Jerri” & Ted W. Mason.

The family would also like to extend tremendous gratitude to his caregiver Sherry Stowe who displayed heartfelt and loyal care to David. Ann would also like to sincerely thank all the family and friends for their love and support during David’s illness.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 2-4:00p.m. at Norris Funeral Service Services at the Mt. Hermon Chapel. In lieu of flowers or food, please make a charitable donation to the Danville Humane Society or the Danville Life Saving Crew.
