David Keith Hawley

Mr. David Keith Hawley, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, September 28, 2026, at Central Continuing Care. Mr. Hawley was born August 3, 1948, in Harnett County, one of three children born to the late Ollin David and Christine Parker Hawley. David proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He worked for the State of North Carolina as a disability determination specialist for many years. He is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Paul Summerfield and Gloria and Tom Rezentes; a special friend, Delight Craft; a special friend, neighbor, and caregiver, Patricia “Trish” Hicks Martin; and his roommate and fellow veteran, Ray Landry. No formal visitation or memorial service will be held. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Central Continuing Care and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care. In keeping with his lifelong desire to help others, David chose to donate his body to the mortuary science program at Fayetteville Technical Community College, giving future funeral service professionals the opportunity to learn from his generous gift. His family finds comfort in knowing that, even in death, David continued his commitment to helping others. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
