David Linwood Dove

David Linwood Dove, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 11, 2026. He was born July 19, 1940, in Christiansburg, VA. David honorably served in the United States Army. David is preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Hattie Sue Dove; children and their spouses, Robert and Cindy Dove, Rita and Brian Thompson, and Eric Dove; grandchildren, Travis Thompson, Adam Dove, Audra Dove, and Andrea (Andi) Dove; as well as 8 great-grandchildren. David retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, Hercules, with 35 years of service. After retiring, David enjoyed the outdoors and his weekly rides along the countryside of Craig and Roanoke Counties with Hattie Sue, where they would stop at their favorite places to eat. He enjoyed working in his garden, sharing with family and neighbors, and going fishing. David will be deeply missed by his family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Thomas Harvey and Dr. Keith Crowgey officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, VA.
