Debra Kaye Joyce

Debra Kaye Reid Joyce, 67, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024. She was born December 14, 1956, in Patrick County, Virginia to the late James Thomas Reid and Gladys B. Hairston Reid.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Alice Watts; and brothers, Leorn Reid, Ronnie Reid, and Sandy Reid.Debra was a 1975 graduate of Patrick County High School and later attended National Business College. On July 26, 1980, she was joined in holy matrimony to her best friend and soul mate, Anthony. She was employed at Hampco Apparel for seven years until she branched out to become a cosmetologist. In 1992 she became owner and operator of DJ’s Hair Nouveau until her retirement in 2007. She enjoyed planting flowers, trees, gardening, spending time with her family and going to church faithfully. She was also a member of the MHC Voters League, the Garden Club, The Red Hat Society, and volunteered at Martinsville Memorial Hospital, the FAHI Museum, and the Piedmont Arts Association. The most important things to her were serving the Lord, taking care of her family, uplifting people and living life to the fullest.She is survived by her husband, Anthony Joyce; daughter, Courtney R. Joyce of Lithonia, Georgia; son, Stephen A. Joyce (Shannon) of Conyers, Georgia; sisters, Juanita Richardson (Sonny) of Fieldale, Virginia, Brenda Eggleston (Vince) of Martinsville, Virginia; brothers, Wayne Reid of Spencer, Virginia, James Reid (Mitzy) of Martinsville, Virginia, and Winfred Reid of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Christopher Joyce of Martinsville, Virginia, Bryson Joyce of Charleston, South Carolina; and Brent Joyce of Conyers, Georgia and a host of nieces and nephews.The funeral will be Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at Red Hollow Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Kevin Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service.
