Debra “Debbie” Turner Gilmore of Glade Hill, Virginia passed away on March 16, 2024 from complications brought on by a short battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, William R. Turner, Sr. and Nelda G. Turner, both of Martinsville, Virginia.

In addition to her husband Dave, Debbie is survived by her brother, William R. Turner, Jr. (Amy); daughters, Dora J. Snoddy (Channing) and Virginia “Ginny” J. Lamb (William); grandchildren, Kaila Knight, Justin Knight, Kent Snoddy, and Adrianna “Anna” Snoddy; great-grandson, Rome Dawson; nieces, Caitlin “Catie” Turner and Amanda Turner.

The family would like to express its sincere, heartfelt thanks to the caring and professional staff of Carilion Hospice who provided unwavering support, guidance, and compassion throughout a difficult ordeal. Words cannot adequately describe the value of what these people do.

Special thanks to Debbie’s cousin Henry Lawrence and Dave’s cousin Regina Meeks and her husband Terry for their timely and helpful visits as the time grew near, and to Dave’s sister Tammy Gilmore Autry (Daniel Frazier) for their thoughts and well wishes.

According to Debbie’s wishes, she will be cremated. In lieu of a funeral and burial, and at a date and time to be determined, the family will welcome friends and loved ones to a Remembrance Gathering to celebrate Debbie’s life. The Remembrance Gathering will be held at her home in Glade Hill. In the interim, please keep Debbie, Dave, and their family in your hearts and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Debbie’s memory.
