Delena W Brown
Delena “Dee” White Brown, 84, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on January 25, 2023. Delena was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Ina White, dear husband Emory C. Brown Sr., and beloved “daughter” Leza Crozier. She is survived by her three sons: Emory C. Brown Jr. (Joanne), David Robert Brown, and Joseph C. Brown (Melissa); and grandchildren Matthew Brown, Lewis Brown, Joshua Prillaman, and Maddox Brown. She is also survived by her brother Benjamin White (Pam), sister-in-law and friend Pauline (Polly) Brown, and “daughter” and dear friend Barbara Garden, as well as numerous family members and friends.
Delena was proudly born and raised in Wythe County and maintained strong ties to the area throughout her lifetime. Additionally, she was also a familiar figure in the Salem area due to her long history in retail sales, working for many years at both Brendle’s and Carla’s Hallmark. Delena was a caring person, well known as friend and “mom” to those close to her. She had an extraordinary ability to take others ‘under her wing’, always displaying her warm and caring nature, and welcoming others to seek her counsel and guidance.
The family wishes to express their sincerest thanks and gratitude to Brandon Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for their extraordinary care given during Delena’s last days.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 11:00 am at Lotz Funeral Homes, 1303 E. Main Street, Salem, with visitation there Monday, from 4:00 until 7:00pm. Burial will take place at West End Cemetary, Wytheville, with a graveside service at 2:00 pm.
